Protocol for private sessions at the studio:
Please answer the screening questions within 24hours of appointment time. The questionnaire will be emailed to you.
You'll be asked to sign a Waiver/disclaimer.
Use hand sanitizer when entering studio and when leaving.
Mask and physical distancing is very difficult during a private session although we can make an effort to stay a couple of feet apart. So please understand the risks to yourself and family and consider online sessions instead.
How I Can Help
Over the last 22 years I have worked with many individuals who sought my help with one or more of the following conditions:
low back pain, arthritis, scoliosis, TMJ, plantar fasciatis, stenosis, sciatica, chronic pain, shoulder and neck injuries, limping, hip pain, bulging disc, posture, ihunch and kyphosis, fibromyalgia, recovery after shoulder, hip or knee surgery, posture improvement, referral pain in the shoulders/neck/arms.
I use somatic movements and a therapeutic approach to classic yoga exercises as a very effective form of neuro-muscular retraining that alleviates chronic pain and improves physical functioning and mobility.
This approach stands out from other forms of bodywork (acupuncture, massage, chiropractic) in that it relies upon your participation to provide sensory feedback, not just to muscles and nerves, but to the brain.
The course of treatment is often shorter and more long lasting than physical therapy programs, chiropractic or manual soft tissue therapies. However it can also be used to supplement the effectiveness of these programs and therapies.

Joanne is a highly experienced and skilled Yoga Therapist. Since 1997 she has used yoga to help hundreds of people improve or recover their health. She is known for being lighthearted and extremely responsive and attentive to the needs of her clients.
Her training, education and skills far surpass those of the average yoga teacher, and includes a comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and psycho-spirituality from both the eastern and western traditions. She has been a yoga teacher & therapist for 22 years and has over 1500 hours of formal yoga teacher and yoga therapy training, including specialized training in pain management, anatomy and physiology for back pain and pelvic health and for cardiac and cancer recovery.
Joanne received her accreditation as a Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapists after documenting over 700 hours of therapeutic sessions with clients and presenting 22 case studies in addition to other requirements to meet the highest standards of accreditation in the industry. She has a multidisciplinarian approach to yoga therapy heavily influenced by Feldenkrais, Somatics Yoga, Iyengar and Viniyoga lineages.
Joanne has had the good fortune to study with many great teachers including Pain Specialist, Physiotherapist and Yoga Therapist Neil Pearson and with Robin Rothenberg highly regarded in the industry and author of The Essential Low Back Program. She also completed a certification program for cardiac and cancer therapy with Nischala Joy-Devi in 2010.
In 2012 Joanne began to offer workshops for sciatica and soon after received many requests from around the world for a manual. So she wrote one called Stop Sciatic Pain that is now selling worldwide on Amazon. Her other past projects include hosting and producing 13 episodes for Rogers TV called Yoga for Sore Bodies and writing an article that was published in The Escarpement Magazine on Pain Management. In 2012 she was one of the 4 practitioners highlighted in an article on pain management, in On The Bay Magazine.
