For sore bodies that need more attention & care
Specializing in spinal health & functional movement
Hi and welcome to my website. I'm Joanne Pineau, a certified yoga therapist with a home-based yoga studio in Thornbury, Ontario. I've been a yoga teacher and yoga therapist since 1997 and I've helped hundreds of people improve their overall health and movement patterns to reduce and eliminate pain.
In the last several years I've narrowed my area of interest and expertise to back issues like back spasms, sciatica, kyphosis and posture improvement.
Virtual group classes are postponed until September.
I'm now seeing clients 1-on-1 in my studio. Read protocol.
"...I will never be able to express my full gratitude to you for the care and skill you shared with me that
allowed me to heal my body and mind. Simply, all I can say is a very heartfelt "Thank you!".
Susan / Manager
"The class met and surpassed my expectations - I was not prepared to be able to move that much more easily so quickly."
Sally / Retired
I use somatic movements and a therapeutic approach to classic yoga exercises in the Viniyoga Lineage, as a very effective form of neuro-muscular retraining that alleviates chronic pain and improves physical functioning, posture and mobility.
This approach stands out from other forms of bodywork (acupuncture, massage, chiropractic) in that it relies upon your participation to provide sensory feedback, not just to muscles and nerves, but to the brain.
Many of my clients reach out to me once they have completed a treatment plan from their physiotherapist and continue to make significant improvements.
Others want to be more pro-active with their self-care and use yoga therapy to supplement the work of manual soft tissue therapies like osteopathy, chiropractic and massage; and clients having experienced trauma and looking to ground themselves after dissociation have included Yoga Therapy as part of their approach to recovery.
Releases chronic musculo-skeletal contraction that results from stress, physical trauma, and repetitive movement that may cause back and neck pain, scoliosis, sciatica, knee, hip and shoulder pain.
Allows the brain to recalibrate the co-ordination of muscles used in daily activities like walking and bending.
Improves posture, circulation, and gradually rebuilds body strength, flexibility and improves movement patterns without making a pre-existing condition worse.
You become more self-aware, develop a more profound experience of the mind/body connection, qwel agitation and anxiety, feel more grounded.
You will feel positive changes almost immediately in your state of mind and body.
Often leads to desireable lifestyle changes and resiliency.
